In order to meet future logistics demand, a new pier will be constructed in Yokosuka Port using land reclamation, according to plans updated in 2024. An environmental impact assessment is being conducted. The new pier will include development of about 5 hectares of commercial land. The wall will be 260 meters long and 9 meters below sea level and plans include the addition of new domestic ferry and RORO routes.
