Yokosuka Port is located at the entrance of Tokyo Bay, which is key to Tokyo metropolitan area logistics. Due to its location, it is largely free from the speed restrictions of the Uraga Channel route (12 knots, or about 22 km/h), enabling more efficient transportation. Network expansions such as the extension of the Ken-O Expressway and the southern extension of National Route 357 are expected to further reduce travel time to areas throughout Kanto. Furthermore, the Kurihama area is not subject to the speed restrictions of the Uraga Channel route. By switching to land transportation at Kurihama Port, it is possible to reach central Tokyo in about an hour.
