Companies are facing several major challenges, such as the “2024 Logistics Issue,” a shortage of workers due to a declining and aging population, the need for stronger business continuity planning (BCP), and pressure to reduce costs. To respond to these issues, logistics operations are moving from using individual machines—like storage or transport equipment—to adopting full, integrated system solutions. The Japan Institute of Material Handling (JIMH) is an association made up mainly of manufacturers involved in material handling. Our goal is to help people better understand logistics systems and to support the industry in solving its challenges. We do this through research, education, information sharing, and cooperation with many organizations in the logistics field.
